Beach Fun

Growing up in a small town north of Boston meant I was about a 20-minute drive to the beach and the ocean. As a kid, I enjoyed many visits to Wingaersheek Beach, Nahant Beach, and York Beach with my family. The beach was the perfect place for fun in the sun. As a teenager, late-night trips to Kelly's Roast Beef on Revere Beach with friends were a necessary right of passage. That was always a lot of tasty fun. Once I became engrossed in photography, the coast of New England, its quaint villages, fishing culture, beaches, and seaside landmarks became a regular backdrop for many of my adventures and photographs. It always will. I cannot imagine my life, or my creative life, without access to the sea. So, with temperatures on Saturday feeling far more like summer than spring, it seemed only natural to head to the beach for an afternoon of photography. Revere Beach, our nation's first public beach, seemed the right place to go with my camera for an afternoon of seaside street photography with fellow photographer and friend @joe77c. Shortly after arriving, we encountered this group having a spirited volleyball game. The action was great, making for some good photo ops, and the welcoming conversation with the group was even better. Watching the group enthusiastically enjoy their game was fun, but the setting made me smile. I love to be next to the sea.
